Benefits to Prisoners

It could be very easy for a prisoner to feel isolated and alone whilst in prison. Here at Lowdham Grange we are aware of this and have put many initiatives in place to combat and resolve this problem. Our technological initiatives through Connect enable prisoners to do exactly that - connect.

They can connect to family and friends 24 hours a day through a secure in-cell telephone, ensuring that particularly vulnerable prisoners feel supported. There is a reduction in bullying as a result of this service and, due to its ease of access and greater privacy, it promotes contact with voluntary help organizations.

In-Cell I.T., providing access to educational development courses, encourages the development of a responsible attitude to a prisoners own future. By empowering him to take responsibility for his own learning and giving him the tools to achieve his targets we are going a long way to ensuring a reduction in reoffending upon release.

Equally the On-Cell ATM devolves responsibility to the individual, ensuring he is accountable for his own needs and financial management; skills which are essential for effective resettlement upon release.
