Healthcare

HMP Lowdham Grange Health Care department offers a service to all inmates of the prison. It is staffed 24 hours a day by experienced registered nurses. In addition there is a primary mental health team offering a wide range of psychiatric services and specialist nurses in asthma. Together with diabetes and chronic disease management.

An experienced general practitioner covers medical issues including treatment where possible and referring to specialist services when more in-depth treatment is required.

The healthcare department also offers a range of services including dental, physiotherapy, Podiatry, Opticians, GUM, and access to Hepatitis, Wound management and Tuberculosis specialist.

In addition to routine clinics, nurses respond to all alerts within the prison, providing expert medical care as and when needed to prisoners and staff.

Staff within the health care department are continually upgrading their skills and knowledge and they are supported by management in their professional development. The healthcare department also provides placements for general nursing students from Nottingham University.
