The Residential Department prides itself in fostering a harmonious living environment for both prisoners and staff. We strive to enable prisoners to mirror to some extent that of every day life.

There is a strong ethos on enabling prisoners to live in a drug free environment and as such six wings have been developed into a drug free environment.
The Residential Department prides itself in fostering a harmonious living environment for both prisoners and staff. We strive to enable prisoners to mirror to some extent that of every day life. The residential units are a self contained unit and as such facilities such as Laundry, Food Services and the ability to order shopping are made available.
One of our primary roles is to safeguard the well being of prisoners, we have an excellent First Night and Induction Unit whereby prisoners entering Lowdham Grange are housed. This enables prisoners to settle into the routine and begin to buy into the ethos we promote.
Prisoner / Staff relationships are fostered and are promoted as being good practice when audited by external sources; this is an area we pride ourselves in. It is not prisoner against staff or vice versa but a mutual sharing of experiences that brings the best out in individuals.
Safe management of prisoners who are at risk from self harm requires a multidisciplinary approach but must be owned and driven by Residential staff.
