HMP Lowdham Grange is pioneering relationships with many different organizations in order to continually better both ourselves and our service to you.
We have developed a very successful relationship with the Butler Trust: "an independent charity set up to celebrate, support and share good practice in the UK correctional settings". The Butler Trust Awards recognize outstanding dedication, skill and creativity within the prison sector in the UK.
Time for Families is an organization dedicated to teaching relationship skills between prisoners and their partners in order to strengthen that bond. Strong family relationships benefit everyone within the family unit and society at large. A prisoner with strong family relationships is less likely to reoffend after release.
Educating prisoners and young people at risk within the community, Safe Ground uses drama to help these groups resist the forces of social exclusion and institutionalization. Their two courses, Family Man and Fathers Inside, were designed by prisoners and have now reached 25% of the male prison population.
Kids VIP is a specialist national agency set up to improve contact between children (up to the age of 18) and their imprisoned relatives. Kids VIP works to support the rights of the child and ensure that they are able to develop a positive relationships with their imprisoned family member through good quality, child friendly visits and a system of that understands their unique needs within the situation
This organization works to reduce the harm that imprisonment can cause to a family by separating a child from a parent.
"We represent the views and experiences of our members - organisations providing direct services to the families of people in prison - as well as of families themselves. We support the development of new and existing services, promote good practice on working with prisoners, their children and families both in prison and in the community, publish information, influence policy and raise awareness of the impact of imprisonment on children and families" - APF website.
The PSU works hard to promote and protect its members. It sees the value in the work they do and strives to protect their interests by keeping them well informed and taking their concerns seriously.
