Story Time Dads

Introduction

Often it is the little things in life, the things we take for granted, that we come to miss the most when we can no longer share them. Things like reading a bedtime story to our children.

At HMP Lowdham Grange we understand the value of maintaining family relationships and that is where Story Time Dads proves invaluable to both prisoners and families alike.

To be a Story Time Dad is to go that extra mile to be there with your children when they miss you most; bedtime. Here at Lowdham Grange we have a purpose built recording studio and a highly capable staff team to put your voice to cd.

Prisoners choose a story they would like to read to their child and then record it to cd. Afterwards we add sound effects and music, bundle it together, package it up and give it to your family. Your child can then snuggle up in his or her favourite place and listen to Dad read them a story as often as they wish.

The next stage of the project is to develop into DVD recordings whereby the prisoner will be filmed reading a story or message. Again a positive resource to ensure family bonds are strong throughout the time of sentence for prisoners.

This recording was made within the prison and edited by offenders working towards nationally recognised qualifications, before being approved by staff. The recording contains the following chapters;
